Damien Hirst has designed the world’s most expensive hotel room. An art gallery in its own right, the 90,000 square foot Empathy Suite at Palms Casino Resort is now available to book for $100,000 a night. The suite, which features six original artworks by the artist and includes two master bedrooms, massage tables, a salt relaxation room, and a jacuzzi overlooking the Strip, looks as if it belongs in a sci-fi movie. Stepping inside is stepping into Hirst’s mind and artistic vision. Combined, the artworks standing within its walls are worth $10 million. They include all his trademarks- a pill cabinet work filled with diamonds, a medicine cabinet work, a series of butterfly works, and a large piece featuring a pair of sharks. Throughout the suite, motifs of life, death and money are inescapable.

The project was a collaboration between Hirst and the New York based architects Bentel & Bentel. The Palms Casino Resort is owned by well-known art collectors Frank J. Fertitta III and Lorenzo Fertitta, who have long been a fan of the British artist’s work. “I love what Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta have done with the Palms,” Hirst said in a statement. “It’s amazing being able to work with them because they are great collectors and totally understand art. They have allowed me to create a suite in the hotel and design everything and completely fill it with my art.”
